Godloves Home Improvements helped bring the renovation together with custom gray cabinetry, striking black countertops with white veining, updated kitchen fixtures, and a refreshed interior. Chuck guided the homeowner through the design choices, helping turn an overwhelming project into a finished kitchen she loves.
Project at a Glance
Finished features: Gray Shaker-style cabinetry, black countertops with white veining, farmhouse-style sink, black fixtures, stainless steel appliances, recessed lighting, and wood-look flooring.
The Problem
An Older Kitchen Ready for a New Look
The original kitchen had a dated appearance, with natural wood cabinets, wood-paneled walls, patterned flooring, and an older ceiling with rectangular light fixtures. Its narrow arrangement and traditional finishes made the room feel noticeably different from the updated style the homeowner wanted.
Beyond the appearance, deciding how to approach the renovation was another challenge. Emily wasn’t sure what she wanted the new kitchen to look like or how to make the many decisions involved.
She needed more than someone to complete the remodeling work. She needed help choosing a design and understanding how everything would come together.

Our Solution: Custom Cabinetry and a Modern Kitchen Renovation
Chuck worked closely with the homeowner on the kitchen’s new design, explaining the options and helping her choose the details. The completed renovation brings together updated cabinetry, contrasting finishes, and a refreshed kitchen and dining area.
Custom Gray Kitchen Cabinetry
Gray Shaker-style cabinets give the remodeled kitchen a completely different appearance from the original wood cabinetry.
The finished design includes upper and lower cabinets, tall storage surrounding the refrigerator, black cabinet hardware, and a combination of solid and glass-front cabinet doors.
The cabinetry creates a consistent look throughout the kitchen while providing storage around the appliances, sink, and countertop areas.
Black Countertops and Updated Kitchen Fixtures
The new kitchen has black countertops with prominent white veining, creating a strong contrast against the gray cabinets.
A white farmhouse-style apron-front sink sits beneath the kitchen window, paired with a tall black spring-coil faucet.
Together, these details give the kitchen a more contemporary look while keeping the sink area practical for everyday use.
Stainless Steel Appliances and Lighting
Stainless steel appliances complement the darker cabinetry hardware and countertops. The completed space includes a French-door refrigerator, dishwasher, wall-mounted microwave, and an electric cooking range.
Recessed ceiling lights provide a cleaner, more understated appearance than the older rectangular ceiling fixtures.
Refreshed Flooring and Dining Area
The original kitchen’s patterned flooring has been replaced in the finished space with a wood-look floor that continues through the surrounding area.
A large wooden dining table and bench seating help bring the kitchen and dining space together.
The completed interior also includes light-colored walls and an opening between adjacent rooms, creating a noticeably updated look compared with the original wood-paneled interior.
The Result
A Kitchen the Homeowner Finally Loves
The finished renovation looks dramatically different from the original kitchen.
The older wood cabinets and dated finishes have given way to gray cabinetry, contrasting black-and-white countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a more contemporary overall design.
The homeowner was especially happy with Charles’s involvement in the planning process. He presented designs, helped her make decisions, and took the time to explain things whenever she felt unsure.
What began as an overwhelming renovation became a kitchen Emily says she absolutely loves.
